James R. Bradley

Facta non Verba

Born in Brooklyn, New York into a large Irish-Catholic family. At age of 17, I joined the Army and became a Recon-Scout, after a short tour with the 82nd Airborne Division, I volunteered and was sent to Vietnam. It was there that I grew into a man at the ripe old age of 18 years. As a then young Sergeant Bradley, I learned many lessons of life, death and camaraderie but most important of all, was that I was responsible for my choices or path in life. I learned that the key to success in life is Education and Certification and my personal battle cry or motto became Facta non Verba, "Deeds not Words." After Vietnam, I learned to be an optimist, look ahead while learning from the past. I firmly believe that in spite of some of the events in my past, I must live life. I must face my personal inner monsters and not let them be a crutch or excuse in life. I went back to school (nights, weekends, holidays) and in time I became a EMT, a Paramedic, a Nurse and then a Physician Assistant. I went from being a high school drop out (when I joined the Army) to obtaining 5 college degrees (2 graduate). My Army career spanned 23 years, through two wars and numerous assignments. Today I work for the Veterans Health Administration meeting the health needs of veterans.  I chose everyday to move on and carpe diem "seize the day.

Later, after much encouragement from my family, I put my stories to pen. This lead to the publications: Good, Better, Best, a historical fiction about a young paratrooper,  PVT. ROONEY the prequel to Good, Better, Best. and Words of the Warrior, a collection of poems I brought back from Vietnam,  along with editing and updated the 3rd Edition of the "Sky Soldier." Also the 2004, 2005, 2007, 2007, 2008 and 2009 - 173d Airborne Historical Calendars.
